Policies and Practices We have flirted very briefly with the idea of small batch production and joining the “modern market place” but the reality of “wood butchering and sausage making” just does not allow the maker to concentrate and focus on the labour of making “a drum”!!. Skins need to be worked, rested and watched, the changes are subtle and often mean a return to an earlier part of the process; they may need to be stretched onto the drum two or three times and a planned process can move from hours to days.
So we are back to making one or two drums at a time, fussing about, changing our minds and basically trying to achieve what it is that a particular musician may want. The luxury of taking a head off and modifying the bearing edge to get that little bit of extra performance. You are able to focus on providing a service, to work with your own designs knowing that you are contributing to the preservation of a unique soundscape, by maintaing diversity and giving musicians choices and options.
We will not sell in the streets like cheap vendors and hawkers; show our wares, talk to our clients, promote the drum and our unique service, let musicians play our latest creations, yes!! Pressure sell and impulse buying is just not our scene.
